I have been using my mac since 1984. and of course I used an apple IIe even before that. But the mac was something special, and I grew up fortunate enough to be in a "Mac" family.
My father's business, which I became a part of, was a business that used macs. My first novel was written using mainly a Macintosh SE. Our small company newsletter was printed using a Mac. Then back in the early nineties when things were looking bleak for the mac, we switched to PC's.
We suffered when we did so. although the business world is PC only, it was no wonder so many people were unhappy. There was Dos, then there was Windows 3.1.
At home, though, I used my quad ra 650 and was also exposed to the Gamut of Graphics software. Then it was Photoshop, Illustrator, and Aldus PageMaker. The battle of the Beige machines versus VGA PCI machines was being waged.
The truth is that the battle lines based on what platform you like are just that. for the most part its a matter of taste. Granted macs still have the ease of use issue better answered than the PC. But I think like there are dog people versus Cat people. There are "mac" people versus "PC" people as well.
My brother, or instance, is a PC person. the evidence of this seeming to be that when my brother attempts to use the G4 his wife uses, he inevitably causes problems with it.
This site in all of its glory was completely generated using a Macintosh.
This part of my site I will also devote to some standard tutorials of how to do things that seem to be consistently asked in the mac related chat rooms (I have no life) that I frequent. This way when someone enters the room and asks the same question everyone else seems to ask on a given day, I have a quick easy link to send.
Favorite Macintosh related links include in no particular order:
