They say that straight guys don't dance, and among that sub category, the straight white guy would have less reason or desire to dance. I rarely listen to what "they " have to say.
I love to dance, I love women as well, and I have rhythm. I was once told in college in University singers by the wife of a conductor that I was the only one who did not move like a white guy. If only I could jump as well...
Back in 1997, I started going dancing every weekend to the Grooves of the seventies and for seven years I never looked back. I became a permanent fixture at Have A Nice Day Cafe in both locations in Atlanta, and then ended my reign of tearing up the dance floor at BAR ATlanta a couple doors down from where HAve A Nice Day Cafe' expired.
I went by many names. Disco, Biggie Smalls, The Machine were just some of my names. There were others as well, some that cannot be repeated. Once you "get out there" the prophets of the obvious attack and disrupt and basically want to destroy anything different, or so it seems.
My crowning achievement though was dressing up as a Blues Brother and dancing. I did it a couple Halloweens ago and made a couple other "guest" appearances at a New York Wedding, my sister's wedding, and a couple others when the whim would take me.
Now, in LA, I am currently without a Dance Club, but am in desperate need of rhythmic diversion. I have included in this section, pictures of Have A Nice Day Cafe; and a couple of semi action shots of myself dancing for your entertainment.
Final message to DJ's past: YMCA is not, repeat is NOT one of my favorite songs. "I Will Survive" however was since it brought all the babes onto the dance floor.
